Ware Wins First Conference Game Against Aylett

All three Ware Academy basketball teams were in action on Thursday, January 11th as they hosted ISAC rival Aylett Country Day school.

The JV Boys got the action started as they played their very first home game of the season.  The younger Waves played a hard fought game and were able to keep up with the Patriots the first half but were unable to continue this level of play.  Andrew White and Blake Berry found a place on the score board and the entire team exhibited a strong defensive front throughout the competition.  The Patriots were able to defeat Ware.

The Lady Waves and the Lady Patriots played a hard fought game.   Ware was able to contain the Patriots for much of the first half.  Eighth grader, Taylor Berry was a steady scorer throughout the game.  Seventh Grader, Alicia Dunn, Sixth Graders, Macee Dubois, Grace Sinko-VanLiew and Clara Wood, as well as Fourth Graders Macon Kissman and Sienna Rowe were instrumental in Ware’s defense.  Ultimately, the Patriots size and experience won out against the Waves with a victory.

In the last game of the evening, the Varsity Boys and the Patriots would engage in a fast-paced game.  Play continued to be back-and-forth between the two teams.  High scorer, Pierce Lambert found himself in foul trouble early in the first half.  The teamwork of Eighth Graders, Kobey Taylor and Josh Ward, Seventh Graders Alex Milligan, Samuel Strawn and Denison Glovier allowed Ware to score and remain in the game.  Sixth Graders, Colin Payne, Nate Carter, Evan Frazier and Will Mattox continued the pursuit of a win by providing excellent defense for the Waves.  In the end, Ware’s determination and team work earned them a lead in the end of the fourth quarter and a 33-26 victory.

The Waves will be back in action Thursday, January 18 for another Triple-Header when they host Hampton Roads Academy.
