BIENVENIDOS A ESPAÑOL con la Sra. Frechette

My name is Marta Frechette and Spanish is my native language. I was born in Panama, I am Citizen of the United States, and my husband is retired military. I have two daughters and two puppies. My older daughter recently graduated from Mary Washington University and my younger daughter is currently in the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). I live with my family in Gloucester.

I have traveled to several Spanish speaking countries, such as Mexico, Nicaragua, Colombia, and Honduras. Other countries I have visited include England, Uganda ,Africa and Israel. On some of my visits, I have translated from Spanish to English and from English to Spanish when I was on mission trips with churches. My desire is to continue traveling and to help people know the Lord. I have also translated Spanish to English for schools where the students’ parents did not speak English.

I am glad to serve my community, teach Spanish at Ware Academy, and be a part of the great things that the Lord is doing at Ware. I have a love and passion for teaching Spanish and I desire to transfer my knowledge of Spanish, my first language, to my students. Mathew 19:26 With God all things are possible.

In my classroom, the students will learn basic grammar and vocabulary. They will engage in writing and speaking activities, and learn how to communicate with regular verbs in past, present, and future forms. Reading writing, speaking, and listening will be included in the learning environment. Students will listen to music, translate, watch appropriate videos, play games, participate in projects and stories, and engage in dialogue activities, all in Spanish!

For classroom instruction, the TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling) method of language instruction will be used.
