'I Just Gotta Dance'

The Lower School will travel to Swift Creek Theater in honor of Black History Month. They will see 'I Just Gotta Dance' by Tom Width which includes stories behind the great music of the African and African-American experience.This performance includes songs of hope, struggle, freedom, and joy with a new understanding of their origins.

'Step Afrika!'

'Step Africa!' is coming to Ware Academy! Students in all grades will experience the joy of learning values (education, teamwork, discipline and commitment) through the art of "stepping." Students will also learn about the origins of this African-American art form created in colleges and universities across America with ties to African dance and African-American culture. The entire audience will learn a brief routine and experience stepping for themselves. Step Afrika!'s intricate kicks, stomps and rhythms mixed with spoken word will pound the floor and fill the air.This performance is sure to inspire the children to do their best!

The Republic of Korea Traditional Army Band

April 27th
The Lower and Middle Schools will travel to the Ferguson Center to watch The Republic of Korea Traditional Army Band. Keeping the tradition of Korean sound and culture in modern society, The Republic of Korea Traditional Army Band is a once in a lifetime experience. The students’ learning experience will be enriched with this performance of bright costumes, mesmerizing music and energetic movement.

The Primary School visited Swift Creek Mill Theatre to see this delightful holiday play. Santa Miss Candy Cane went to the North Pole to deliver Santa’s supply of sweet stocking stuffers, but much to her dismay, a Three-Eyed-Stripe Swiper had eaten all the stripes off of her candy canes!

 

The Nutcracker

December 4, 2009

The Middle School traveled to Wells Theatre in Norfolk to watch the Richmond Ballet (The State Ballet of Virginia) perform a length production of The Nutcracker. Student's enjoyed a live performance of Tchaikovsky’s score performed by the Virginia Symphony Orchestra.
