Enrichment 2008-09 Calendar

May 15th - Bayside Youth Ballet

Bayside Youth Ballet, the resident dance company of Diggs School of Dance, put on a performance for Ware Academy students. One of the dancers included Morgan Conley (daughter of Mrs. Conley, Ware's fourth grade teacher) who is a senior at Gloucester High School. The dancers performed numbers in ballet, modern and jazz dance styles.

 April 30th - The Spirit of Taikoza: The Japanese Drum

                                       

The Spirit of Taikoza is a percussion group that uses the powerful rhythms of taiko drums to create an electrifying energy that carries the audience to new dimensions. They explore music and dance of an ancient culture with large drums, bamboo flutes, and the koto -a thirteen string instrument.

At Ware Academy - Grades Pre K 4 - 8.

February 20th - New York Polyphony

New York Polyphony performed for the entire student body. New York Polyphony is rapidly gaining a reputation as one of the finest classical vocal ensembles of a new generation. Fusing elegant vocalism with expert ensemble singing, the four men delivered dynamic, historically informed performances in a range of styles... from plain chant to contemporary works.

December 18th - Gift of the Magi, Newport News, VA. Student field trip -

Grades 6-8.

December 17th - The Nutcracker, Ferguson Center. Student field trip - Kindergarten through fifth grade .

November 3rd - The American Jazz Ensemble Guiding Tour of the development of jazz in America - it's roots, and connections to the social and political climate of the times. At Ware Academy - Grades Pre K 4 - 8.
