The PA provides opportunities for parents to support and enhance the educational experience for each student.   Every parent of a student at Ware Academy is a member of the Ware Academy Parents Association (PA).  We welcome and encourage you to take part in PA events and programs.  Being involved in the PA is a great way to directly affect the daily school life of your child.  Even the smallest amount of your time and support is welcome and will make a difference.

The Objectives of the PA are to:

Enhance relationships between the parents and the school

Function as a source for communication for all parents

Provide informational and social opportunities for all parents

Provide relevant educational opportunities for all parents

Work closely with the Head of the School on program enhancements

Provide support to the faculty and students

Facilitate extracurricular learning experiences for the student body

The PA sponsors a myriad of events such as:

New Parent Luncheon

Teacher Appreciation Event

Back to School Picnic

Concessions for Athletic Events

Fall Festival (in conjunction with the faculty)

Father-Daughter Dance

Field Day (in conjunction with the Athletic Department)

Eighth Grade Dinner

In addition, the PA facilitates a number of support programs that include:

Mentoring for New Parents

Class Ambassadors (parent representatives for each grade)

Surf Shop (school book store)

Ware Wear and Friday Fun Ware

These events and programs are financially supported by various corporate reward programs  (e.g. Food Lion “Shop and Share” Program, Box Tops for Education, Target and Brent and Becky’s Bloomin’ Bucks), Sally Foster gift wraps sales, and funds raised through the Surf Shop, Ware Wear/Friday Fun Ware sales and concessions for athletic events.

This year, the PA is focusing its efforts on providing educational opportunities for Ware parents on issues such as internet safety, child development, literacy, adolescence, and educational methodologies and philosophies, and on fulfilling needs on the School's "Wish List."  The "Wish List" sets forth numerous unfunded needs of the school, both small and large.  Some suggestions from the Head of the School for this year include AV equipment, a laminating machine, whiteboards for the classrooms, and  new furniture for Pre-K room.

As you can see, there are many opportunities for parents to be involved with WAPA and we encourage participation at any level.   I look forward to working with each of you.
